Wernersson's cheese is recalling three variants of its Morbier cheese. This is done as a precautionary measure since there is suspicion that they may contain the bacterium Escherichia coli, which can produce shigatoxins.
Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli can cause diarrhea, stomach pain, and vomiting, with or without fever, within a week after consuming contaminated products.
The recall affects three articles, 23866 Morbier 1.5 kilo, 26167 Morbier 250 grams, and 26255 Morbier 250 grams.
Consumers are advised not to eat the cheese and return it to the place of purchase.
People who have eaten the cheese and experienced symptoms should contact their doctor. If no symptoms occur within 15 days after consumption, there is no reason for concern or doctor's visit.
