Waymo, one of the US companies behind self-driving taxis, plans to enter and compete with the classic taxis in London next year. In the coming months, Alphabet, with the subsidiary Waymo, will conduct test drives in a limited area in the British capital, the company announced.
The British government has previously announced that it plans to allow self-driving cars from next year.
London would thus become the second international major city outside the US that Waymo now plans to try to enter. Previously, they have conducted test drives in Tokyo.
