A wave of thefts against theaters and concert venues in southern Sweden is causing concern in the industry.

According to an investigation by Sveriges Radio's "Kulturnytt" , at least five cultural venues from Lund to Örebro have been the target of thefts this autumn. Among other things, technical equipment, such as mixing consoles worth millions of kronor, has been stolen.

Even more have been victims of attempted theft.

Kungsbacka Theater was one of the first to be robbed, in September this year.

We don't know exactly how they got in, but we believe they have set up an emergency exit, says sound engineer Maria Andrén to SR.

Now the thefts are causing concern throughout the industry.

It seems very well organized and when you put the pieces of the puzzle together, it feels like they know exactly how to do it. Everyone in culture works with a system of trust, that you should be able to move freely in the premises. And now that has been broken, says Maria Andrén.
