An important public announcement (VMA) was issued in Lidköping earlier on Tuesday. The reason was strong smoke development as a result of a fire in a waste disposal facility and residents in the area were advised to stay indoors.
By 11:30, the danger was over.
According to the rescue service, it was a larger pile of plastic waste that was burning with open flames. Quite quickly, the rescue operation got control of the fire.
The after-fire extinguishing is ongoing, but the strong smoke that was initially present has dissipated, says Jenny Birgersson at the Rescue Service Skaraborg to Nya Lidköpings-Tidningen.
No one is believed to have been injured in the fire that the police suspect started through self-ignition.
