A washing machine that cleans people is being marketed in Japan – and has its first customer.

The user lies down in the capsule, closes the lid and is washed like clothes in a washing machine – but without a spin function – to the sound of music.

The machine, manufactured by the Japanese company Science, is an update of a similar product that came out in 1970.

After the company exhibited a prototype at the Osaka World Expo this year, an American hotel company asked if the product would be sold. After that, Science decided to start manufacturing the machine.

A hotel in Osaka will be the first customer. The hotel will offer the washing machine as a service to guests.

The machine costs approximately 60 million yen, equivalent to around 3.6 million kronor.
