There are icicles up to two meters long - and they can weigh between 30 and 40 kilograms. The rescue service in Gothenburg is now warning about this, reports Göteborgs-Posten.

After the heavy snowfall at the start of the year, the rescue service in Gothenburg has made a worrying discovery: around fifty unusually large icicles sitting high up, on the fifth or sixth floor, in the city.

The icicles are estimated to be between 40 and 200 centimeters long and weigh around 30 to 40 kilograms.

Niklas Johansson, regional response leader at the Greater Gothenburg rescue service, is now urging pedestrians to be careful and not to walk under large icicles or under amounts of snow that are at risk of falling.

The icicles are located near the roof and on downspouts. And with the thaw this week, the risk of them falling increases, he tells GP.
