War in Iran boosts Equinor profits as gas prices rise, buybacks doubled

The company's production volume increased by 3 percent in the second quarter of this year compared with the corresponding quarter last year.

Adjusted net profit in the second quarter rose to $3.44 billion, compared with an average analyst forecast of $3.36 billion, according to Bloomberg.

Equinor expects to buy back $3 billion in shares in 2026, which is double the plan announced earlier this year. Share buybacks are a form of dividend to shareholders.
