The person has been in custody since Wednesday evening and is being held on probable cause suspicion of aggravated rape of a child.
"The circumstances that formed the basis for the assessment are subject to preliminary investigation secrecy and it is currently not possible to go into more detail about the investigation status as it would risk damaging the continued investigation," says Chamber Prosecutor Oskar Hedström in a press release.
The assault took place outdoors on Thursday morning last week near a school in Järfälla, northwest of Stockholm. The incident prompted the municipality to urge parents with children in primary school to accompany them to and from school in the coming days.
On Wednesday, a person who had previously been detained in the case was released, and on Thursday the prosecutor announced that a new suspect had been arrested.
