Wang Chuqin is the new World Champion in table tennis. The Chinese won the World Championship final against the Brazilian Hugo Calderano.

The world's number two is the world champion, Wang Chuqin won the final with 4–1 in sets.

The first set was even, 12–10, but in the second set Wang showed his world-class.

In the third set, Calderano bounced back and won with 11–4, which was also the world's number three's only set win.

The last sets Wang won with 11–2 and 11–7.

This is for my team and my country, I had great will and I'm glad I succeeded, says Wang after the victory.

In the semifinal, Wang knocked out Truls Möregårdh, also winning with 4–1 in sets. Möregårdh took the VM bronze.

On the women's side, it was a significantly more even final. The world's number one Sun Yingsha met the world's number two Wang Manyu.

Sun took the lead with 2–0 in sets (11–6, 12–10), but Wang could come back and level at 2–2 (11–8, 11–5). Sun won the fifth set (12–10) and Wang took the sixth (13–11), and a seventh and decisive set was waiting.

Then Sun showed why she's ranked number one in the world. She won the set with 11–7 and became the world champion.
