"I'm enjoying it. I've never had it so good as now," he tells TT.
He made his acting debut in 1990 and has since had roles in a large number of television series. Gradually, successful film directors have caught his eye – he worked with Steven Spielberg in “Lincoln” and Quentin Tarantino gave him major roles in “Django Unchained” and “The Hateful Eight”.
He has often played villains, and in "Fallout", which is now in its second season, he plays The Ghoul, who wanders the wasteland like a kind of cowboy zombie who has risen from the nuclear war 200 years earlier.
Playing cowboy
But in flashbacks that take place before the apocalypse, we also meet him as Cooper Howard, an actor popular for his cowboy roles who discovers the conspiracy that led to the disaster.
It's fascinating to play two characters, who are essentially the same person, separated by 200 years and a nuclear war. I love being able to use my imagination, and I try to make it as realistic as possible, and think about what options the survivors have after such a disaster.
“Is nasty”
The fact that there is currently a plethora of dystopian books, films, TV series and computer games - is it a consequence of the fact that we live in dark times?
Stories like this have always existed, we can look back to “War of the Worlds.” We’ve always been fascinated by what could happen, and our story is drilling into a world that’s as chaotic as ever. It’s creepy – but fascinating at the same time.
This spring we were able to see him in the third season of “The White Lotus”, as Rick Hatchett, the man seeking revenge for his murdered father.
"I've been in the industry for a long time now, and I've been grateful for every step I've been able to take. Right now it feels like a really good time. I'm enjoying it to the fullest," says Walton Goggins.
