Wall Street Traded Cautiously Ahead of Alphabet and Tesla Earnings

Wednesday's trading on Wall Street was cautious, with little movement. The Dow Jones industrial average finished unchanged, while the broad S&P 500 and tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite lost 0.1 and 0.6 percent, respectively.

Trading took place in anticipation of Google owner Alphabet's quarterly report, among other things. The market is looking for signals about the profitability of AI investments and demand for cloud services, for example.

Another stock market giant, electric car manufacturer Tesla, is also due to report after the close in New York.

Server maker Super Micro Computer's shares surged 19.8 percent after the company raised its forecast for gross margin in the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year. The company also said it received more than $60 billion in new orders during the quarter.
