Wall Street starts the trading week higher

U.S. stock markets rose as the trading week began. Gold prices continue to soar.

The broad S&P 500 index rose 0.5 percent, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.6 percent, and the Nasdaq's technology-heavy composite index rose 0.4 percent.

AI company Coreweave rose 5.7 percent after chip giant Nvidia announced it had invested $2 billion to accelerate the expansion of Coreweave's facilities. Nvidia fell 0.6 percent.

Later this week, tech giants like Apple and Microsoft will present their interim reports. Shares in Apple and Microsoft rose 3.0 and 0.9 percent, respectively. Electric carmaker Tesla will also report results. Tesla fell 3.1 percent.

The price of gold was above $5,100 per ounce (31.1 grams) for a while before falling back to around $5,050.
