The New York stock exchanges started the trading week with an uptick. At the close, the S&P 500 had risen 0.5 percent, while the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.9 percent, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was unchanged.

The rise in the tech sector, where Nvidia and Broadcom, among others, rose 2% and 3%, respectively, comes after a recovery in trading on Friday, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average reached the 50,000 level for the first time.

However, new US labor market statistics for January will be released on Wednesday. The figures were originally supposed to be reported on Friday but were delayed and could have an impact on the stock market.
