The courses rose on the American stock exchanges immediately after the central bank, the Federal Reserve, announced on Wednesday that the interest rate would be left unchanged.
The broad S&P 500 index increased by 0.4 percent, the Dow Jones industrial index went up by 0.7 percent, and the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index rose by 0.3 percent.
Many American companies are delivering higher profits than expected despite the uncertain economic times. On Wednesday, the entertainment and media giant Disney presented a positive interim report, where the company also raised the profit forecast for the full year. The share surged almost 11 percent.
