After five minutes of trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.4 percent, the broad S&P 500 index rose 0.7 percent, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite rose 1.1 percent.

This followed a very dark Friday, when the Nasdaq fell 4.2 percent.

Back then, AI-related companies took the hit. Now they are bouncing back across the board. Chipmakers Micron Technology and Marvell Technology are up 8.7 percent and 9.2 percent, respectively.

Industry peers Nvidia, Broadcom and Qualcomm are also rising.

Stock markets around the world rose somewhat from the ashes when US President Donald Trump called on Israel and Iran to cease-fire.

The call also caused oil futures to fall back after initially rising.
