The Dow Jones industrial average rose 0.1 percent, the broad S&P 500 index rose 0.6 percent, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index rose 0.9 percent.
This marked the sixth consecutive trading day of gains for the S&P 500. The index closed at a new record high, as did the Nasdaq Composite Index.
Tensions eased after Washington and Tehran were reported to have reached a preliminary agreement to extend the ceasefire for 60 days and to work to end the war.
The oil price fell 0.4 percent during the day, and a barrel of North Sea oil cost $94.
Data storage company SanDisk rose 3.3 percent.
Chip companies AMD and Qualcomm rose 4.6 percent and 4.3 percent, respectively.
