Wall Street mostly upbeat despite war fears

At the close, the broad S&P 500 index climbed 0.6 percent while the tech-heavy Nasdaq gained 1.2 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.2 percent.

Micron has surged about 20 percent since it was highlighted by stock analysts. Industry peers Seagate Technology and Western Digital also had a good trading day, up 4.1 percent and just over 8.3 percent, respectively.

The negotiating situation between the U.S. and Iran remains unclear after Washington's latest attacks on Iranian targets, so it is unclear when the Strait of Hormuz will reopen.

The price of oil climbed during the day; at 10 p.m., a barrel of North Sea oil cost just over $99.
