Wall Street falls as Middle East war fears deepen

The broad-based S&P 500 index and the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.5 percent, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index fell 0.3 percent.

Chipmaker Micron went against the grain and finished up 4.1 percent, while giant Nvidia fell back and closed just below zero.

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he is in no hurry to end the conflict with Iran. He also threatened, in an interview with Fox News, to “bomb the shit out of” Oman if it stands in the way of a deal on the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, Iran again claimed that a deal with Oman is close.

The price of oil rose on Monday. A barrel of North Sea oil costs $90.9.
