Another new feature is that voters no longer need to bring their voting card when voting early or at a polling station on election day, but only their ID.

"Regardless of whether you receive the voting card digitally or on paper, it is no longer needed when voting, it is enough to be able to identify yourself," says Anna Nyqvist, head of the Swedish Election Authority, in a press release.

According to the Election Authority, approximately 6.5 million voters will receive their voting card digitally, while approximately 2.1 million will receive their voting card by post as before. The voting cards will be sent out in paper form starting on August 17 and should have reached all voters by the time early voting starts on August 26.
