The European Commission's President Ursula von der Leyen can safely remain in her position. SD and V were the only Swedes to vote against her in Thursday's vote of no confidence in the European Parliament.

That von der Leyen would manage was expected, since the middle groups had already beforehand promised continued support.

In a first vote, which was initiated by the far right with the French National Assembly in the lead, von der Leyen was supported by 378 members against 179 and 37 abstentions. Here, the three SD members were the only Swedes who wanted to overthrow the EU boss.

In the second vote, which was launched by the left group, she received support from 383 members against 133 and 78 abstentions. Here, the two V members were the only Swedes who voted for a dismissal.
