Volvo Union Reports Growing Anxiety Amid Staff Reduction Plans

It has been a turbulent spring for the automotive industry. Now, the anxiety is increasing even more after the announcement of staff reductions, notes Adrian Avdullahu, chairman of the IF Metall club at Volvo Cars. It is clear that there is a certain anxiety among our members, he says.

Volvo Cars presented a savings program totaling 18 billion kronor in connection with Tuesday's interim report.

The details are not yet known, but the package will involve staff reductions.

Adrian Avdullahu hopes that the company can clarify its plans as soon as possible.

We have received information about cost savings. But we have not received any further information yet, and we expect the company to call for negotiations when this begins to crystallize, he says.

The news of impending layoffs comes at an already very uncertain time for the automotive industry, he notes.

It's turbulent worldwide right now, not least within our industry considering tariffs and all the other discussions that are ongoing.

In a time when there is great uncertainty in the world, this creates absolute anxiety. So the sooner we get more information, the sooner we can go out with it to our members.
