Evans had written for two decades and had seven unpublished scripts rejected before the best-selling book, written during the pandemic, was published in 2025 and made her a literary star.
The sister prize for non-fiction, the Women's Prize for Non-Fiction, was awarded to Canadian BBC correspondent Lyse Doucet for the book "The Finest Hotel in Kabul", according to ABC News.
The prize winners are awarded approximately SEK 380,000 each.
