Most of the deaths have occurred in Jaramana and Sahnaya just outside Damascus.

The UK-based SOHR reports that 15 fighters from the Druze minority were killed in an ambush by a group that can be linked to the government. The ambush occurred on Wednesday. Also, 30 members of the government's security forces and one civilian have been killed in the area.

In the province of al-Suwayda further south, 27 Druze have been killed, including 23 in an ambush, according to SOHR.

The Druze spiritual leader condemns what he calls an "unjustifiable genocide campaign" against his people following the recent days of sectarian clashes.

The leader calls for immediate intervention from "international forces to maintain peace and prevent these crimes from continuing".
