The 27-year-old Swede has spent two seasons at Stoke, who are delighted to have Johansson at the club for a long time to come.

"Viktor embodies everything we all want to see in a Stoke City player. His energy, leadership and relentless desire to win set the standard every day," said sporting director Jonathan Walters.

Johansson has not played first-team football at all in 2026 due to a shoulder injury, but played 90 minutes for the U21 team on Monday. According to Stoke, he could be available for Saturday's away match against Bristol City, which is also the last league match of the season.

In that case, it's good news ahead of Graham Potter's announcement of the World Cup squad on May 12.
