Viktor Gyökeres' goal tally is becoming increasingly difficult to comprehend with every goal he scores.

And during Sunday's match against Boavista, the 26-year-old reached 38 league goals in 29 matches this season, after scoring a hat-trick in 50 minutes. Teammate Maximiliano Araújo then scored a goal before Gyökeres completed the rout in stoppage time, setting the crushing score at 5–0.

The goals mean that he is the first player in 23 years to score over 35 goals in the same season in the Portuguese league. The last time it happened was in 2002 when Brazilian Mário Jardel scored 42, according to Transfermarkt.

If you add Gyökeres' 14 full hits in other competitions, such as the domestic cup, league cup, and Champions League, he is now up to a staggering 52 goals in total this season.

The Swede started his goal tally on Sunday evening as early as the sixth minute, and in stoppage time of the first half, he struck again. The hat-trick was completed later in the second half, when the super striker scored his 51st goal of the season in the 50th minute.

The hat-trick is the Swede's second in two league matches. Nine days ago, he scored three goals against Moreirense.

What happened in between?

A goal and an assist in the cup against Rio Ave.
