Viktor Claesson is returning to IFK Värnamo, which was relegated from Sweden's top flight last fall. This summer, the 34-year-old midfielder will rejoin his parent club for the first time in 14 years.

"The biggest goal when I get home is to get IFK back into the Allsvenskan and help the club that raised me. I haven't had the experience of playing in the Allsvenskan with Värnamo myself, so it would be a dream," Claesson tells Värnamo's website.

Claesson has 74 senior international caps and was a key player in the national team that reached the quarter-finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Since leaving Värnamo in 2011, he has represented Elfsborg, Russian club Krasnodar and, since 2022, Danish club FC Copenhagen.
