Swede Arvidsson was set up by compatriot Lucas Raymond and teammate Moritz Seider with just over nine minutes left in the first period. After that, however, Seattle began its scoring spree.
The goals came thick and fast in the second period. In less than ten minutes, the winning team scored four times, two of them by Canadian Frédérick Gaudreau.
Detroit’s Norwegian Michael Brandsegg-Nygård made it 3–6 with a wrist shot in the third period.
