Mortensen was in the audience at the press conference with four senators from the United States who are visiting the Greenlandic capital.
He declined to answer questions about why he was there when Danmarks Radio sought comment from the actor. However, Mortensen, who has Danish roots, wrote an opinion piece in Sjællandske Nyheder in January arguing that Denmark, Greenland and Europe should not agree to give the US “so much as a square centimeter” of Greenland.
Mortensen appears to have been in Greenland at least since Sunday, when he was pictured in Nuuk with Greenland's Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen.
