After the season's last game, Sunday's 2-0 win over Aston Villa, the Premier League club announced that the 30-year-old centre-back is one of three who have done their part in United.

The other two are Christian Eriksen and Jonny Evans.

In the end, it was 284 matches for Manchester United for Lindelöf, who joined from Portuguese Benfica in the summer of 2017 and now has an expiring contract. There were two titles during the time in Manchester: the League Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

The home fans got to say goodbye to Victor Nilsson Lindelöf, who started in Sunday's match against Aston Villa.

The season as a whole has not been particularly cheerful, however. United did not finish better than 15th in the league and an injury-plagued Lindelöf has had limited playing time.
