Tampa took early command of the match with two quick goals in the first period.
Two goals in one and a half minutes were big for us. We wanted to do the same thing in the second period, says Hedman to reporters afterwards.
Said and done, Hedman passed to Jake Guentzel who scored 3–1 one and a half minutes into the second period. A couple of minutes later, Hedman himself scored 4–1, followed by 5–2 in the third period.
His teammate, Nikita Kucherov, also scored two goals and an assist.
Tampa Bay's Swedish goalkeeper Jonas Johansson made 30 saves.
We wanted to keep them close in defense, not give them time and space, says Hedman.
