Tampa's team captain Victor Hedman left the game after the first period when Tampa Bay met Carolina in a preseason game during the night against Saturday, reports nhl.com.
Tampa's coach Jon Cooper said after the game that Hedman was taken off as a precautionary measure and gave no more information about the injury.
During the period Hedman was on the ice, he was credited with an assist. Tampa eventually won the goal-rich game 6–5.
