The presidential election will not be held until 2028, but Duterte has already announced she is launching her candidacy after several high-profile campaigns.
Vice President Duterte was impeached in the Senate last year on charges of death threats and corruption, but the case was halted by the country's Supreme Court on procedural grounds.
She is also the daughter of the Philippines' criminally indicted former president, Rodrigo Duterte, and has in recent years been in an open feud with current president Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
