The British newspaper reports that Disney is leading the bidding in several European countries, including Sweden. Rights in 19 television markets for the period 2027-2031 are under negotiation.

Viaplay states in a press release that the channel has secured the rights in Denmark until 2031, but not in Sweden.

"For each local market, we make strategic priorities to ensure a strong offering and a sustainable business over time. We have extended the rights we wanted to extend based on our strategic and business assessments," writes Viaplay Sweden CEO Jonas Karlén in an email to Dagens Industri.

In Sweden, Viaplay will broadcast the tournament until May 2027.

Viaplay states in its press release that the channel has purchased the rights to the other two men's club tournaments - the Europa League and the Conference League - for Norway and Finland. In Sweden, Disney+ currently broadcasts the two tournaments.
