Digital radio is already being broadcast in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Uppsala and Gävle. The new initiative is expected to reach approximately 70 percent of the population with 12 different channels, according to a press release. The expansion is expected to be completed by the summer.
Christer Modig, head of Viaplay Group Radio, describes the expansion as "crucial for commercial radio".
Viaplay's digital radio includes channels such as Rix FM, Lugna Favoriter, Skärgårdsradion and more.
