Vestas profit beats forecasts, sends stock up nearly 20% in Copenhagen

At the close, the stock had surged almost 20 percent.

Operating profit amounted to 446 million euros, twice as high as analysts' expectations of 203 million euros, according to Bloomberg's compilation.

“Demand for wind power solutions remains strong thanks to the growing need for secure, affordable and sustainable energy,” CEO Henrik Andersen says in the report.

Revenue rose 26 percent year-on-year to 4.72 billion euros, beating analysts' expectations of 4.57 billion euros.

Vestas is raising its full-year forecast to an operating margin of 7-9 percent, from previously 6-8 percent.
