The World Championship title is already secured.
But Max Verstappen is no less emotionally invested in it.
During qualifying for the Qatar GP, the Dutchman was penalized for driving unnecessarily slowly, thereby hindering George Russell. The two were then called to a meeting to discuss the incident, and when Max Verstappen came out of the meeting room, he was at the very least irritated.
I've been in that meeting room many times, but I've never experienced anyone trying to screw me over as hard as he did. I lost all respect for him, says the Dutchman to The Guardian.
And to Dutch TV, he was not exactly milder in his attack on the Mercedes driver.
He always tries to be so humble when the cameras are on, but when you're in there with him, he becomes a completely different person. I can't stand it, and to be honest, it's better if he just pisses off. I don't want to be involved in this.
The final verdict was that Verstappen was moved down one position from pole position to second starting position, but it would prove to play a lesser role. The Dutchman won the Qatar GP, which was the second-to-last race of the season.
The final race will take place next weekend, on the Yas Marina track in Abu Dhabi.
