The new engine and chassis regulations for the cars are a big talking point in the Formula 1 circus. For example, the engine must be powered 50 percent by electricity - with the battery being charged by braking during the race.
"Starting with zero percent in the battery - it's not very fun and also quite dangerous," says Red Bull star Max Verstappen ahead of the season's second World Championship round in Shanghai.
The changes mean that simulator training is no longer realistic, says Verstappen.
"I've swapped the simulator for my Nintendo Switch. I actually train with Mario Kart," he says jokingly.
