Verizon now expects earnings this year to be between $4.95 and $4.99 per share. The previous forecast was between $4.90 and $4.95 per share, and the average forecast among analysts was $4.90 per share.
Verizon also expects subscriber growth this year to be near the upper end of its forecast range of 750,000 to 1 million.
Verizon reported adjusted operating profit of $13.4 billion for the first quarter, up 6.3 percent. The average forecast was $13.1 billion.
Revenue from mobile and broadband services rose 22 percent year-on-year to $22.9 billion, while wireless equipment revenue increased 26 percent to $5.7 billion.
