Next to a wall in the parking garage, the man who has been shot with several shots is sitting. On the concrete floor, his mobile phone is lying and a call with 112 is in progress. In a few days, the place will be filled with lit candles and flowers from friends and fans – to remember the Gothenburg rapper C Gambino.

It turns out that it is the 26-year-old artist who is waiting for an ambulance on June 4, 2024, after he himself called for help. He has a shot in his arm and one below his chest, which will lead to his death.

Four indicted

Today, more than a year later, the Gothenburg District Court will announce the verdict against four young men who have been indicted for involvement in the murder.

A 22-year-old and a 21-year-old are indicted for, in the first instance, murder and serious weapons offenses. Both are suspected of having made their way to the parking garage in a silver-colored car where they then shot C Gambino, who had been to the gym and just got out of his car when he was hit by the shots.

In addition, a 20-year-old man is indicted for aiding and abetting murder, suspected of having, together with other people, provided the murder suspects with the car they were traveling in. He is also indicted for serious vandalism and serious protection of a criminal, together with a fourth person, who is 19 years old. Together, they are suspected of having burned up the car afterwards.

According to the indictment, all the persons deny the crime.

Hundreds of thousands of listens

An exact motive for the murder has not been established, but according to the police investigation, there is a connection to the long-standing conflict between criminal gangs in the Biskopsgården district on Hisingen. Both the police and the prosecutor have emphasized that the investigation has not shown that the rapper himself was active in any network. On the other hand, he is said to have had people in his vicinity with connections to one of Biskopsgården's groups.

The anonymous rapper, with a mask and white eyeliner, debuted seven years ago. When he was found shot, it had only been days since he released a new song on Spotify, where it is now number one among his songs on the streaming service. C Gambino still has hundreds of thousands of listens every month.

Facts: About C Gambino

C Gambino, born 1998, started releasing music as a 20-year-old and became a star in the music sky. His first single "Rebell" was released in 2019. Three years later, he reached the Swedish charts with music from his debut album "Sin City".

The rapper always wore a black mask and white eyeliner at public appearances, as anonymity was a big part of his artistry.

In early January 2024, his second album "In memory of some stand up guys" was released, which would also be his last.

The same year, he won his first Grammy for hip-hop of the year 2023.

On June 4, 2024, he was shot in a parking garage on Hisingen in Gothenburg, which led to his death at the hospital.

The song "Sista gång" was released on May 31, 2024, and a year after his death, the song has nearly 31 million listens on Spotify.

After his death, C Gambino was posthumously awarded a Grammy for hip-hop of the year 2024.
