Venice museums face heatstroke warning as union threatens strike action

Inside some museums, including the Archaeological Museum of Venice, temperatures have been above 30 degrees Celsius for weeks. The Unione sindacale di base (Base Union of Trade Unions) warns that this is a health hazard for both employees and visitors.

The union says the intense heat poses an increased risk of “exhaustion, seizures and heatstroke,” The Art Newspaper reports. It is now urging employers to take action.
