The Venice Biennale 2026 will be realized to the greatest extent possible as Koyo Kouoh, the deceased art curator, had envisioned it. Koyo Kouoh, who was responsible for next year's biennial, recently passed away at just 58 years old.

With one year's work left, the biennale now announces that, with the support of Koyo Kouoh's family, it is working to realize her biennale with the same title – "In minor keys" – as she had chosen.

Koyo Kouoh from Cameroon was the MD and chief curator at the Zeitz Museum in Cape Town, South Africa. She was also the first African woman to be appointed to curate the Venice Biennale.

Next year's biennale opens on 9 May 2026.
