Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodríguez says her government is open to diplomatic solutions after the US attack. She also mentions plans to reform the country's oil industry, which Washington is demanding influence over.

Rodríguez has a difficult task in navigating between the demands of the United States and the opinions within her own government, which is still loyal to the overthrown president Nicolás Maduro.

In her speech to parliament on Thursday, she criticized the US attack and capture of Maduro.

It is a stain on relations between the United States and Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez said, but added:

We should not be afraid of diplomacy.

She did not provide further details about planned oil reforms, but assured that revenues from oil sales will benefit the people.
