Every minute, Venezuela was shaken by the most powerful earthquakes in a hundred years, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 respectively.
The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, said the earthquakes claimed at least 4,734 lives and injured 16,740 people. Most of the injured have been discharged from hospital.
According to UN estimates, around 50,000 people are still missing in the rubble.
