The number of wanted passenger cars continues to decrease. During the first half of 2025, a total of 2,105 cars have been wanted.

It is a decrease of 24 percent compared to the same period 2024, when 2,783 cars were reported missing, according to Larmtjänst which retrieves statistics from the Police Authority.

Right now, we generally see in Sweden that many thefts, for example of cars and other types of vehicles, are actually decreasing linked to the more severe measures that come from the Police Authority, says Åsa Lundin, communicator at Larmtjänst, to SR Ekot.

The reports of missing tractors are also decreasing. So far this year, 27 tractors have been reported missing, of which nine have been found.

Theft groups are also targeting construction machines such as wheel loaders, dumpers and excavators. But there is a dark figure since there is no obligation to register them.

We have no exact figures on what it looks like, but we know that many machines are stolen, says Åsa Lundin.
