Sylvegård, 25, went through the so-called waivers list in NHL without being picked up by any other team and is now free to leave St Louis.
He made a huge success last season with 23 goals in Växjö, was recruited by St Louis but has not gotten any NHL chance without playing in the farm team Springfield.
The contract is now being terminated.
He will re-enter service, he is actually just on leave, said Evertsson to TV4 Play before it became clear that Sylvegård was free.
Sylvegård belongs to Växjö since he had a valid contract when he signed with St Louis last summer.
In the same vein, Danish forward Joachim Blichfeld is leaving Växjö and moving to Rögle.
Blichfeld was not part of Växjö's winning match against Färjestad.
Växjö lost a 2-0 lead to 2-2 and the match went to overtime and penalties where Sebastian Strandberg decided.
Färjestad's goalkeeper Maxim Lagacé got injured after being hit by Växjö's Dylan McLaughlin during overtime. Damian Clara had to come in and replace.
Växjö climbed up to sixth place in the table and Färjestad remains in second place, now six points behind leading Brynäs.
