In December last year, Vattenfall made its first investment of 713 million kronor in the Harsprånget power station, located in the Lule River in Jokkmokk municipality.
The new investment will, among other things, go towards a completely new turbine, giving the power station an increased effect of 913 MW and a total production of over 2 TWh per year.
"This is one of several steps to secure the production of hydropower, which, at 40 percent of Sweden's total electricity production, is the backbone of the power system," says Johan Dasht, Head of the Generation business area, Vattenfall, in a press release.
