”Through the investigation, we get a clearer picture of how the cloudbursts have affected our county, but also where there are deficiencies. Lessons that we use to together build a more robust society and strengthen the regional preparedness”, says Martin Neldén, one of the responsible emergency preparedness administrators at the county administrative board, in a press release.
The investigation will provide MSB with a better basis for understanding how the consequences differ between different parts of the country – so that the support to the county administrative boards becomes more effective.
The cloudbursts caused, among other things, two train derailments and that about 40 roads had to be closed. One person was killed in a car accident where a road was washed away. The damage, including to infrastructure, was extensive.
The Swedish Accident Investigation Authority also announced earlier that an investigation had been initiated.
