Vasaloppet will be rescheduled in several sections to counteract the effects of milder weather, the organizer announced in a press release.

The last kilometer towards Smågan will have a new track section to avoid watercourses that have become a problem during previous editions with mild weather when water has penetrated the marshes.

"The total distance will not be affected, but if it is above zero, participants will have a better experience and significantly drier feet," says Johan Eriksson, Vasaloppet's CEO, in a press release.

Preventive measures have also been taken at the start area in Sälen to prevent water from penetrating.

"If it gets hot this year, we have prepared to widen the starting field slightly in places where we would otherwise have to narrow it down considerably to avoid the water," says Eriksson.

The organizer also announces that a track change one kilometer closer to the finish line in Mora is in progress.

"The Vasalopp track towards the Mora ski stadium now goes into more undulating terrain and the participants will be able to ride straight towards the ski stadium instead of, as before, riding around it. It will also be more accessible for the public and we think that can provide a good experience and a little extra energy for the riders at the end of the race," says Johan Eriksson.

Vasaloppet week begins at the end of February and ends with Vasaloppet on March 1st next year.
