AIK would get closer to an allsvensk medal, European games for the summer and by the way send IFK Värnamo to superettan. That was the idea. Instead, the season's thrashing awaited in the first half.

So much was at stake, so little was achieved. Värnamo, last in the series and with only two wins throughout the season before the match, did as they wanted before the break and won in the end at Strawberry arena with 3–2.

Rufai Mohammed dunked in the leading goal, Otso Liimatta and Mohammad Alsalkhadi added to it – and then the match was only 27 minutes old.

Värnamo shocked AIK with three goals in twelve minutes. When the home team left at halftime, they were booed out.

It's not even close to good enough. The only thing I can say is that it's a very poor performance, says AIK's Filip Benkovic to HBO Max.

We can't allow ourselves to play like we do. We need to have more energy, toughness, and courage.

Mohammad Alsalkhadi:

We make our best half in the year. We come here and dominate the match from the first minutes. We should have scored more goals.

Erik Flataker's two reductions gave AIK hope, but no equalizer came.

Värnamo has ten points up to the currently relevant rescue plank Öster, on the qualifying spot.

Only twelve points are left to play for. Not much suggests, in other words, that IFK Värnamo will play in the top division next season. But the step down to superettan should be taken with style, it's obvious.

We have nothing to lose, we just go and will enjoy, says Mohammad Alsalkhadi to HBO Max.

AIK is at the same time playing away the opportunity to finish top-3. Only one point has been scored in the last three matches.
