Djurgården was, hardly unexpectedly, dominant in the scorching sun away against the bottom team Värnamo. The Stockholmers created several dangerous chances and when substitute striker Zakaria Sawo in the final stages of the match got his head on a cross, many were probably already starting to celebrate in the away crowd that had traveled. But the ball hit the post and the striker will have to continue waiting for his first Allsvenskan goal.
Instead, it was Värnamo that would eventually take home the season's first three points. Alsalkhadi played a nice wall pass with Marcus Antonsson in Djurgården's penalty area and could then easily place the ball into the goalkeeper's right corner in the 94th minute.
Damn, it was great, stated Antonsson, who made his comeback in the Småland team.
In 2022, Antonsson finished second in the Allsvenskan top scorer league with a total of 20 goals. But this time, he got to act as a playmaker.
I didn't have a single assist last time, so things have happened. Doesn't matter, goal or assist or nothing at all, as long as we win.
Despite the win, Värnamo remains at the bottom of the table with seven points – but now with a bit of a gap up to the second-to-last team Öster on twelve.
